Gliadel Drug Interactions

Because Gliadel is implanted in the brain, it is unknown how much of the medication is absorbed into the bloodstream. As a result, it is not exactly clear whether Gliadel would cause interactions with other drugs. However, there are a number of products that could potentially cause adverse reactions with Gliadel, including live vaccinations, certain biologic medications, and other chemotherapy drugs.

An Overview of Interactions With Gliadel

At this time, it is not entirely clear if Gliadel® (carmustine implant) would interact with other medicines. This is because Gliadel is implanted directly into the brain, and it is unknown how much (if any) of the medication is absorbed into the body, where it could potentially interact with other medicines. Until more information is known, it is probably best to be aware of potential Gliadel drug interactions.
Some of the medications that could potentially interact with Gliadel include but are not limited to:
  • Amphotericin B (Abelcet®, AmBisome®, Amphotec®)
  • Certain biologic and immunologic medications, such as:
