Fludarabine and Fertility

Although fludarabine phosphate (Fludara®) can be an effective chemotherapy treatment, it may cause problems in some people. For instance, a person's fertility (the ability to have children) can be affected by fludarabine.

There have been reports of fludarabine damaging the testicles and sperm in males. This could cause infertility or increase the risk for birth defects. Men who have female partners of childbearing potential should use an effective form of birth control during and after treatment with fludarabine.
