Fentora® (fentanyl buccal tablets) is a prescription pain medication approved to treat breakthrough cancer pain in people who are already taking long-acting opioid medication for underlying pain. It is approved for use in people age 18 and older.
On occasion, a healthcare provider may prescribe Fentora for non-cancer pain. This would be known as an "off-label," or unapproved, use. Prescribing this medication to treat breakthrough pain associated with other types of chronic pain (other than cancer pain) is a possible off-label use of Fentora.
