Precautions and Warnings With Estramustine

Men with a history of seizures, strokes, or other medical problems may not be able to take estramustine safely. To help ensure this medicine is appropriate for you, your healthcare provider needs to know if you have any allergies or if you are taking certain other medications. Warnings and precautions with estramustine also apply to those with diabetes or a blood-clotting disorder.

What Should I Tell My Healthcare Provider?

You should talk with your healthcare provider prior to taking estramustine phosphate (Emcyt®) if you have:
 
 
 
  • Cancer that has spread to your bone
  • Any allergies, including to foods, dyes, or preservatives.
 
Also, let your healthcare provider know if you are:
 
  • Pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant
  • Breastfeeding.
 
You should also tell your healthcare provider about all other medications you are taking, including prescription and nonprescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
