Serious Side Effects of Emend

Some side effects with Emend, while occurring infrequently, are potentially serious and should be reported immediately to your healthcare provider. These include, but are not limited to:
 
  • Anxiety or depression
  • Confusion
  • Heart palpitations or chest pain
  • Severe or sharp leg pain
  • Fainting
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Signs of an allergic reaction, including unexplained rash, hives, itching, and unexplained swelling.

Rare Side Effects Seen With Emend

There are other possible Emend side effects that can occur. These rare side effects occur in less than 3 percent of people. For these side effects, it is difficult to tell whether they are actually caused by Emend or something else.
 
Some of these rare but possible Emend side effects include, but are not limited to:
 
  • Dry mouth
  • Gas
  • Acne
  • Joint pain
  • Back pain
  • Muscle pain
  • Painful urination
  • Weight loss
  • Vision problems.

Final Thoughts on Emend Side Effects

It is possible that you may experience some or none of the Emend side effects listed in this article. Unfortunately, there is no way for your healthcare provider to know beforehand whether you will have side effects from a medicine that you have never tried. Therefore, make sure to let your healthcare provider know if you develop any side effects while taking Emend or if something "just does not seem right." While it may not be a side effect, your healthcare provider will be able to diagnose and treat the problem.
