What If I Take an Overdose of Emend?
It is not known exactly what to expect from an Emend overdose. An overdose is unlikely, as most people are given just a few capsules of Emend at a time (due to the high cost of the medication). In one case, a person who took too much Emend (1440 mg, compared to the usual Emend dose of 40 to 125 mg) experienced drowsiness and a
headache.
If you happen to overdose on Emend, seek medical attention immediately
(see Emend Overdose).
Emend should be stored at room temperature, away from moisture and heat. Emend capsules should be stored in an airtight container.
Keep Emend and all other medications out of the reach of children.
What Should I Do If I Miss a Dose of Emend?
Tell your healthcare provider if you forgot to take your Emend dose before your chemotherapy or surgery. If you do not take your subsequent Emend doses as scheduled, take your missed dose as soon as you remember. However, if it almost time for your next dose, skip the missed dose and continue with your regular schedule. Do not take a double dose of Emend.
Emend capsules come in the following strengths:
- Emend 40 mg
- Emend 80 mg
- Emend 125 mg.
Emend also comes in a chemotherapy pack that contains one 125 mg capsule and two 80 mg capsules (which are needed for the recommended dosage for the prevention of nausea and vomiting due to chemotherapy).
An injectable form of Emend is also available.
