Degarelix (
Firmagon®) is a hormone therapy medication approved for the treatment of advanced
prostate cancer. It belongs to a group of medications called gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) antagonists or blockers.
Just like any medicine, degarelix may cause side effects.
However, not everyone who uses the drug will experience problems. In fact, most people tolerate it quite well.
If reactions do occur, in most cases, they are minor and either require no treatment or are treated easily by you or your healthcare provider. Serious side effects are less common.
Common side effects of degarelix include but are not limited to:
- Fatigue
- Hot flushes
- Weight gain
- Reactions at the injection site, such as redness, swelling, or pain.
