Degarelix Medication

Degarelix (Firmagon®) is a drug prescribed to treat the symptoms of advanced prostate cancer. This medicine is available as an injection that is given just under the skin (subcutaneously) every four weeks.
Degarelix works by blocking production of testosterone in the testes. This can help slow down the growth of prostate cancer cells, which use testosterone to grow.
Although most people tolerate the medication well, degarelix is not suitable for everyone. Before using this drug, make sure to let your healthcare provider know if you have osteoporosis, any allergies, or problems with your heart, liver, or kidneys.
