Drug Interactions With Crizotinib

CYP 3A4 Inducer Medications
The liver breaks down crizotinib using enzymes known as CYP 3A4 enzymes. Medications known as CYP 3A4 inducers can increase the activity of these enzymes. Thus, combining crizotinib with one of these drugs may decrease the level of crizotinib in your body, potentially making it less effective. It is generally recommended that crizotinib not be combined with strong CYP 3A4 inducers.

CYP 3A4 Inhibitor Medications
The liver breaks down crizotinib using enzymes known as CYP 3A4 enzymes. Medications known as CYP 3A4 inhibitors can decrease the activity of these enzymes. Thus, combining crizotinib with one of these drugs may increase the level of crizotinib in your body, potentially increasing your risk for side effects. It is generally recommended that crizotinib not be used with medicines that are strong CYP 3A4 inhibitors.

Dabigatran
Crizotinib may increase the level of dabigatran in your blood, potentially increasing your risk for bleeding. Your healthcare provider may need to give you a lower dabigatran dosage if you take it with crizotinib.

Ergot Medications
Crizotinib may increase blood levels of ergot medications, which could increase the risk for potentially serious side effects. It is generally recommended that these medicines not be taken together. If you do take crizotinib with an ergot medication, your healthcare provider may choose to monitor you more closely.

Everolimus
Crizotinib may increase the level of everolimus in your blood, potentially increasing your risk for everolimus side effects. Your healthcare provider may need to give you a lower everolimus dosage if you take these medications together.

Fentanyl
Combining fentanyl with crizotinib may increase the amount of fentanyl in your bloodstream to potentially dangerous levels. It is generally recommended that these medicines not be used together, if possible. If you do take crizotinib with fentanyl, your healthcare provider will monitor you more closely for fentanyl side effects.
