Side Effects of Cometriq

Just like any medicine, Cometriq can cause side effects. Although not everyone who uses the drug will experience problems, like many cancer treatments, most people will experience some type of reaction during treatment.
However, in most cases, side effects can be managed effectively by you or your healthcare provider. Serious reactions are less common.
Common side effects of Cometriq include but are not limited to:
  • Diarrhea
  • Redness, swelling, sores, or pain in the mouth
  • Redness, swelling, or pain on the palms of the hands or soles of the feet
  • Weight loss
  • Decreased appetite.

Drug Interactions

Cometriq may react with a number of other medicines (see Cometriq Drug Interactions).

Important Information for Your Healthcare Provider

You should talk with your healthcare provider prior to taking this medication if you have:
  • Liver disease, such as hepatitis, cirrhosis, or liver failure
  • Kidney disease, such as kidney failure
  • Recently had abnormal or excessive bleeding problems
  • Recently coughed up blood
  • An open wound
  • Had a recent heart attack
  • Had a blood clot
  • An upcoming surgery, including dental surgeries
  • High blood pressure (hypertension)
  • Any allergies, including to foods, dyes, or preservatives.
Also, let your healthcare provider know if you are:
Make sure to tell your healthcare provider about all other medications you are taking, including prescription and nonprescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
