Cladribine Dosage

Those who receive cladribine will be given a dosage based on their weight and response to the medicine, among other factors. This prescription chemotherapy medication comes as a solution that is injected slowly and continuously into a vein for seven days. If you tolerate the medicine well, you may receive this same chemotherapy regimen every four to five weeks.

An Introduction to Your Dosage of Cladribine

The dose of cladribine (Leustatin®) your healthcare provider recommends will vary, depending on your weight and how you tolerate the medication. As is always the case, do not adjust your dosage unless your healthcare provider specifically tells you to do so.

Recommended Cladribine Dosing Guidelines

The usual recommended dose of cladribine for the treatment of hairy cell leukemia is 0.09 mg per kg body weight (0.04 mg per lb) per day. It is usually given continuously over 24 hours, for 7 days in a row.

Your healthcare provider may recommend additional seven-day courses of treatment every four to five weeks, depending on how you respond to the medication. According to the manufacturer, people who do not adequately respond to the initial seven days of treatment are not likely to benefit from additional doses.
