Caprelsa Drug Interactions

Caprelsa Drug Interactions Explained

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when Caprelsa is combined with any of the drugs mentioned above.

Colchicine
Caprelsa may increase blood levels of colchicine, which could increase your risk for potentially serious colchicine side effects. Your healthcare provider may choose to give you a lower colchicine dosage if you take these medicines together.

CYP 3A4 Inducer Medications
The body breaks down Caprelsa using enzymes in the liver known as CYP 3A4 enzymes. Medications known as CYP 3A4 inducers can increase the activity of these enzymes. Thus, combining Caprelsa with one of these drugs may decrease the level of Caprelsa in your body, potentially making it less effective. It is generally recommended that Caprelsa not be combined with certain CYP 3A4 inducers known as strong inducers.

CYP 3A4 Inhibitor Medications
The body breaks down Caprelsa using enzymes in the liver known as CYP 3A4 enzymes. Medications known as CYP 3A4 inhibitors can decrease the activity of these enzymes. Thus, combining Caprelsa with one of these drugs may increase the level of Caprelsa in your body, potentially increasing your risk for side effects. Your healthcare provider may choose to monitor you more closely for side effects if you take these medicines together.

Dabigatran
Caprelsa may increase the level of dabigatran in your blood, potentially increasing your risk for bleeding. Your healthcare provider may need to lower your dabigatran dosage if you take it with Caprelsa.

Everolimus
Caprelsa may increase the level of everolimus in your blood, potentially increasing your risk for everolimus side effects. Your healthcare provider may need to lower your everolimus dosage if you take these medications together.
