Caphosol for Oral Mucositis

Caphosol® (supersaturated calcium phosphate rinse) is a mouth rinse prescribed for several uses. One of the approved uses for Caphosol is the treatment of oral mucositis (mouth sores) caused by radiation or high-dose chemotherapy treatment.

This mouth rinse is designed for use in combination with standard oral care to treat mouth sores. It can help relieve the pain of mouth sores by lubricating the mouth. It may also help reduce the risk of getting mouth sores when used at the start of chemotherapy or radiation and throughout treatment.

Caphosol is made to closely resemble natural human saliva, and helps moisten and clean the mouth, tongue, and throat. This can temporarily relieve the pain and severity of mouth sores.
