Available by prescription only, Zuplenz
TM (
Ondansetron Oral Soluble Film) is a drug approved for preventing nausea and vomiting. It comes in the form of a small film that dissolves rapidly in the mouth. Specifically, this medicine is used to prevent nausea and vomiting caused by surgery, chemotherapy, or radiation therapy.
Zuplenz is thought to work in the small intestine and by blocking a specific chemical within the brain. It is only used to prevent nausea and vomiting; it is not effective at treating these symptoms after they start.
Although the drug is generally well tolerated, it is not suitable for everyone. Before using Zuplenz, make sure your healthcare provider has up-to-date information on your medical history and a list of your current medications. In particular, make sure to let your healthcare provider know if you have liver problems, an irregular heart rhythm, or any
allergies.
