Zortress Medication Information

If you have had a kidney transplant, your healthcare provider may prescribe Zortress® (everolimus). This medicine works by weakening the immune system so that your body does not reject the new kidney and attack it.

Zortress comes in the form of a tablet that is taken twice daily, with about 12 hours between doses. You can take your dose with or without food, but make sure to take it the same way every time.

Before starting treatment with Zortress, make sure to review the medication's safety information with your healthcare provider. For example, you may not be able to use this product if you have certain allergies, diabetes, or liver disease. Also, this drug may react with certain other medications.

Although most people tolerate Zortress well, side effects can occur. Some of the common reactions reported with this drug include nausea, constipation, and swelling.
