Zanosar Chemotherapy Information

People who are diagnosed with a certain type of cancer of the pancreas known as islet cell cancer may receive a prescription medication called Zanosar® (streptozocin). This chemotherapy drug comes in the form of a powder that is mixed with liquid and injected into a vein. Your healthcare provider will tell you how often you need to receive it.

The medicine works by disrupting how DNA replicates, which helps prevent cancer cells from growing and multiplying. Side effects are common and may include nausea, vomiting, and diarrhea.

Before receiving Zanosar, review the safety information associated with this chemotherapy drug with your healthcare provider. For example, it may be dangerous to use this medication if you are pregnant or have certain problems with your kidneys or liver.
