Sipuleucel-T Medication Information

If you have prostate cancer that no longer responds to certain cancer treatments, you may benefit from sipuleucel-T (PROVENGE®). This medicine is specifically designed to help improve survival time in men who have prostate cancer that has spread to other areas of the body (metastasized).

Sipuleucel-T is created using a man's own immune cells, which are mixed with a certain protein to make them activated to attack prostate cancer cells. This medicine is injected every two weeks, for a total of three doses.

Before starting treatment with sipuleucel-T, make sure to review the medication's safety information with your healthcare provider. For example, you may not be able to use it if you have certain allergies, liver disease, or a history of a stroke. Also, this drug may react with certain other medications.

Although people tolerate sipuleucel-T well, side effects can occur. Some of the common reactions reported with this drug include fever, fatigue, and chills.
