Regorafenib Drug Information

Regorafenib (Stivarga®) is a prescription medicine specifically approved for treating colorectal cancer (cancer of the colon and rectum) that has spread to other areas of the body (metastasized) in adults. It works by slowing down the progression of the cancer by interfering with the process needed for the cancer cells to grow and divide.

Regorafenib is used when other treatment has been tried, but the disease progresses. It comes as a tablet that is taken once daily in the morning. Most people who use this medication will experience some type of side effect, such as diarrhea, decreased appetite, or fatigue.

Although it may help in the treatment of this type of cancer, not everyone can use this drug. Information on regorafenib should be discussed with your healthcare provider before starting treatment to minimize your risk for certain complications. For instance, people who have had a heart attack or recent surgery may not be able to safely use this medicine.
