Rasburicase Drug Information

Rasburicase (Elitek®) is a prescription medication used to manage uric acid levels in adults and children who are going through chemotherapy treatment for leukemia, lymphoma, or cancerous solid tumors. These particular people are at an increased risk of having high levels of uric acid accumulate in their body, which may lead to dangerous problems, such as seizures, a coma, or even death.

A healthcare provider will administer this injection, which is given slowly into a vein (intravenously, or by IV) once a day for up to five days. Your dosage will be determined based on your weight, your uric acid levels, and other factors.

Because not everyone can safely use this drug, it's important to review the safety information on this product before starting treatment with rasburicase. There are a number of warnings that apply to people who have a medical history of blood problems, allergies, or certain other medical issues.
