Ofatumumab Drug Information

Ofatumumab (Arzerra®) is a medication used to treat chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL), a type of cancer that affects certain blood cells. This prescription medicine works by binding to certain proteins on healthy cells and leukemia B cells, which signals the immune system to attack and destroy the leukemia cells. Ofatumumab is approved for use in people age 18 and older, and is reserved for those who have not adequately responded to certain other chemotherapy treatment.
 
Although some people may not have any problems with this medicine, most people who receive this drug will experience some type of side effect. Common reactions include infections, coughing, and diarrhea.
 
To ensure your safety with ofatumumab, make sure your healthcare provider has up-to-date information on any other drugs you are taking (including vitamins and supplements), as well as any allergies you may have (including to medications, foods, dyes, or preservatives). Also, let your healthcare provider know if you are pregnant or breastfeeding.
