Estramustine Drug Information

Estramustine phosphate (Emcyt®) is a medication used to relieve symptoms of prostate cancer when the disease has become worse or has spread to other areas of the body (metastasized). This prescription drug works by interfering with how the cancer cells grow and multiply. It is approved for use in adult men only and is taken three or four times daily on an empty stomach.
 
To ensure your safety with estramustine, make sure your healthcare provider has current information on any other drugs you are taking, including vitamins and supplements, as well as any allergies you may have. Although some people may not have any problems with this medicine, side effects can occur and may include diarrhea, nausea, and breast enlargement.
