Altretamine Drug Information

Altretamine (Hexalen®) is a prescription chemotherapy medicine used for the treatment of ovarian cancer. It comes as capsules that are taken four times a day, generally after meals and at bedtime. Most people who receive treatment with this medication will develop some type of side effect, such as nausea, vomiting, or numbness in the hands or feet.

Because not everyone can use this drug, it's important to fully understand the safety information on this product before starting treatment with altretamine. Some of the warnings apply to people taking certain medications or supplements, and those who have medical conditions like kidney or liver disease.

Altretamine is designed for palliative treatment, which means it can help relieve cancer symptoms and slow down the progression of the disease, but it will not cure the condition.
