Side Effects of Bevacizumab

Serious Side Effects of Bevacizumab

Some side effects with bevacizumab, while occurring infrequently, are potentially serious and should be reported immediately to your healthcare provider. These include, but are not limited to:
 
  • Signs of a perforation (hole) in the stomach or intestines, such as:
     
    • Abdominal pain (stomach pain)
    • Fever
    • Nausea and vomiting
    • Constipation
 
  • Slowly or poorly healing wounds
     
  • Unusual bruising or bleeding
     
  • Blood clots
     
  • Severe nosebleeds, which may be a sign of a perforated nasal septum (a hole in the wall that separates the two nostrils)
     
  • Symptoms of a stroke, such as confusion or the inability to move one side of the body or to speak
     
  • Chest pain, which may be a sign of a heart attack
     
  • Very high blood pressure (hypertension)
     
  • Signs of reversible posterior leukoencephalopathy syndrome (RPLS), a side effect of Avastin that causes leaky blood vessels in the brain, causing:
     
 
  • Any infection or fever
     
  • Increased urination, which could be a sign of kidney damage
     
  • Signs of congestive heart failure (CHF), such as:
     
    • Difficulty breathing
    • Rapid weight gain
    • Shortness of breath
 
  • Signs of an allergic reaction, such as:
     
    • Unexplained rash
    • Hives
    • Itching
    • Unexplained swelling.
