Bendamustine Side Effects

A number of side effects were reported in clinical studies on bendamustine, including some that are potentially dangerous. Seek medical treatment immediately if you are using this chemotherapy drug and develop problems like a skin rash, fever, or bloody stools. Some of the most commonly reported reactions include low levels of various white and red blood cells.

An Introduction to Side Effects of Bendamustine

Just like any medicine, bendamustine (Treanda®) can cause side effects. As with other chemotherapy medicines, the side effects can be significant. Talk to your healthcare provider about ways to prevent or lessen reactions to this medicine.

Serious Bendamustine Side Effects

Some side effects of bendamustine are potentially serious and should be reported immediately to your healthcare provider. These include but are not limited to:
 
  • Signs of an allergic reaction, which can occur during or soon after receiving your dose, such as:
 
    • Rash
    • Hives
    • Itching
    • Swelling of the mouth, tongue, face, lips, or throat
    • Difficulty breathing or swallowing
 
  • Signs of infection, such as:
 
 
  • Signs of anemia, such as:
 
 
 
    • Yellowing of the skin or whites of the eyes (jaundice)
    • Dark urine
    • Upper-right abdominal (stomach) pain.
