Aranesp Warnings and Precautions

There are many important Aranesp warnings and precautions to be aware of before starting treatment. Let your healthcare provider know if you have heart disease, a blood disorder, or congestive heart failure before taking the drug. Aranesp may potentially cause cardiovascular problems, seizures, and severe anemia. You should not take Aranesp if you are allergic to the medicine or have untreated high blood pressure.

 

Aranesp: What Should I Tell My Healthcare Provider?

You should talk with your healthcare provider prior to taking Aranesp® (darbepoetin alfa) if you have:
 
o Sickle cell anemia
o Hemolytic anemia
o Porphyria
Also, let your healthcare provider know if you are:
 
  • Pregnant or thinking of becoming pregnant
  • Breastfeeding.
     
Make sure to tell your healthcare provider about all other medicines you are taking, including prescription and non-prescription medicines, vitamins, and herbal supplements.
