Drug Interactions With Aldesleukin

More Detail on Drug Interactions With Aldesleukin

The following sections explain in detail the potentially negative interactions that can occur when aldesleukin is combined with any of the drugs listed above.
Aminoglycoside Antibiotics
Combining aldesleukin with aminoglycoside antibiotics could increase your risk for kidney damage. Your healthcare provider may choose to monitor your kidney function closely if you use these medicines together.
Blood Pressure Medications
Combining aldesleukin with high blood pressure medications may lower your blood pressure to unsafe levels. If you take a blood pressure medicine during aldesleukin treatment, your healthcare provider will monitor your blood pressure closely, and lower the dose of your high blood pressure medicine if needed.
Chemotherapy Medications
There have been reports of serious allergic reactions, including skin redness, itching, and low blood pressure, occurring in people receiving aldesleukin in addition to high doses of chemotherapy medications. Your healthcare provider will monitor you closely if you are receiving multiple anticancer drugs.
Using clozapine and aldesleukin together may increase the risk for dangerously low white blood cells, increasing the risk for serious infections. Talk to your healthcare provider before using these medicines together. It is important, however, that you do not stop taking clozapine without first speaking with your healthcare provider.
Corticosteroids may reduce the effectiveness of aldesleukin in reducing tumor size. Therefore, these drugs should generally not be given together.
Combining aldesleukin with doxorubicin may increase the risk for heart problems associated with both medications. Your healthcare provider will need to closely monitor you if you use these medications together.
