Actiq® (fentanyl lozenge) is a medication prescribed for the management of breakthrough cancer pain in people who are also taking a long-acting narcotic pain medication. It is a strong narcotic opioid medication and has a high potential for abuse. The dosage your healthcare provider recommends will be based on several factors, such as the type and severity of your pain, existing medical conditions you may have, and other medications you are taking. Possible side effects of the medication include nausea, drowsiness, and constipation.
