Drug Interactions With Abiraterone

Taking abiraterone with silodosin may increase blood levels of silodosin, possibly increasing the risk for side effects. In general, it is not recommended to take silodosin with abiraterone.
Combining abiraterone with tamoxifen can make tamoxifen less effective. These medications should not be taken together.
Abiraterone can increase blood levels of tetrabenazine, which could increase the risk for tetrabenazine side effects. Your healthcare provider may choose to give you a lower tetrabenazine dose if you take it with abiraterone.
Abiraterone may increase the level of thioridazine in the bloodstream, increasing the risk for potentially serious side effects, including heart rhythm problems. These medications should not be taken together.
Abiraterone can increase the level of topotecan in the bloodstream, possibly increasing the risk for side effects. In general, abiraterone should not be used with oral topotecan, and should be used with caution in combination with intravenous (IV) topotecan.
Abiraterone may decrease the effectiveness of tramadol. If you take these medicines together, let your healthcare provider know if tramadol is not controlling your pain. You may need a different pain medication.
